Feeling like Alice in Butterfly Wonderland

Image
Largest exhibit in the U.S.  - Phoenix AZ   Picture walking into a large lobby and being submersed in large plastic butterflies hanging from the ceiling.  I was reminded of a time when I wanted to wake up in the mornings with sunshine highlighting butterflies hanging from the ceiling over my bed.  Now I know how that would feel and I am so sorry I did not hang those butterflies.  A friend and I joined a tour group with Master’s Touch Tours to Phoenix AZ in a very comfortable bus.  We arrived at Butterfly Wonderland to spend the morning enjoying and learning about a variety of butterflies.  www.butterflywonderland.com   They receive butterflies from farms all over the world.  They have from 1500 to 35,000 in any given week depending on shipments and hatchings.  I learned the difference between cocoons and chrysalis (moths make cocoons and butterflies make chrysalis).  Good to know.  We watched an exce...

Telling Stories in Clay

The Dragonfly Story The Butterfly Story  Looking through my stash of older Hadar’s clay, I settled on Quick Fire Steel XT.  Why I have 3 bottles is still a question in my mind and now my goal is to use it!  First I started with oval links.  My idea is to make these links as my test pieces and use them in a mixed base metal chain when I get enough.  That should make another good story!  Steel Links Next I decided to make a steel frame to house a moving event.  That will be another post as soon as I decide on the subject of that story!  And you will have to wait to see it. Rocks!  I found my box of special smooth rocks the correct size to use as forms for hollow beads.  Of course I had to make a pendant with a center hole.  Following the directions in one of Hadar’s books and remembering what I had learned in one of her classes, the basic form came out great.  I decided to hang a pearl (I think) in the center...

Butterflies and Thank You's

Thanks for all the healing butterflies we received!   Keep them coming!   So many people have severe health issues.   Those of us who have a network of friends and family that offer both emotional and physical support are indeed the lucky ones.   It’s how we get through the bad times.   So I am taking this opportunity to once again thank our friends and family for their continued love.   The phone calls, emails and hugs mean so much.   Being reminded that each story is unique and not a repeat; being reminded that all I have to do is pick up the phone to hear a caring voice; and being reminded that there is always someone to listen have pulled me back from a previous story and grounded me in reality.   So we will go to Tucson and have more testing done on Peter.   We will see his doctor and build a game plan and go forward.   Whatever the results, they are treatable. We will continue to love, live and hang onto our ...
