A Presentation of a Brief Overview of Polymer Clay

Image
A collection of polymer jewelry 'Carnival' This week I made a presentation to members of Mountain Artists Guild here in Prescott AZ of some of the things I've made from polymer clay.  The purpose was to expend the members knowledge a about the many possibilities of this wonderful medium.  I wanted to share my slides with you hoping to also expand and inspire you! Collaboration - sharing knowledge

Collaboration - Wood and Polymer  Collaborating is a wonderful way of achieving success in producing unusual products and in developing friendships.  Throughout my interior design career I collaborated with my clients as we set out their goals for the projects.  I collaborated with many craftsmen and artists to develop those goals into finished products. After my retirement I realized I could use those same skills to work with other artists and craftsmen in creating art.        before finishing and insetting polymer        Complete As my older brother increased his skills in woodworking I wanted to see how we could work together. Cynthia Tinapple's   work with insetting polymer clay into wood gave me the idea to combine my brother's wood turning with my polymer art.   Stroppel cane inset The success of collaborative work seems to be based on recognition, trust, authenticity and passion.   I knew I would have to learn more about woodworkin

Carnival Collection - Video 2 - Coming Oct 25

Image
Last week I shared my first attempt at a video with titles and music.  We agreed it was fun but not effective for getting viewers to notice the jewelry.  I tried again.  This time I changed the background to a much simpler white with glitter and faceted jewels for a mardi gras theme. I chose the mardi gras theme because of the colors - green for faith, gold for power and purple for justice.  The handcrafted pieces of jewelry have some shine and gold sparkle.  The pieces could be worn for a party, for day or evening wear or just for fun. I found some New Orleans music and paired it with my video, added titles and thought I'd share the retake with you!  The 'Carnival Collection' will be in my etsy shop October 25.  Don't forget to look for it and YES!  I'll remind you again.   www.lindabrittdesign.etsy.com As usual, I'd love feedback on the video.  Each time I do one, I'll get better and your comments will help me.

Into The Forest

Polymer pine cones and rocks in my forest! I'm participating in an international polymer artist collaboration.  We are all going 'into our forests' and really looking at the organic forms  that abound.  Since the project is international there will be lots of different forest life represented.  (Real things - no fairies or gnomes!) Each of us will make our individual version of things we see in polymer clay (and make at least 10 of each item), send it to the coordinator and a team of artists will create colonies that overlap to create a mural with the theme 'Into the Forest'.  It will be seen November 7 in Pittsburgh PA.   Pine cones, pine needles, leaves, rocks, wildflowers, tree bark, insects, birds and animals are some of the things I find in my Prescott National Forest.  I'm selecting pine cones and rocks as my contribution and sharing the making of pine cones with you today.  I have a minimum of 8 more to make this month.  Guess I better get bus
