Choices: 'The Epic Fail' or 'I've Learned a Lot' - Part 2

Image
Remember the post I shared with you about 'Choices'  ?   https://lindabrittdesign.blogspot.com/2018/03/choices-epic-fail-or-ive-learned-lot.html I had some requests wanting to see what I did with the two silver bands that started out to be symmetrical silver cuffs. And then I actually melted part of the design because the torch was too hot.  Well I finally finished the cuff and here it is!  The I've Learned a Lot part of the last blog!  I like the fact that it is not symmetrical and that it has a story.  I had to really think about how I wanted to put the pieces together and how to finish it (I used Liver of Sulphur for the color).  Hammering the bracelet with the two thicknesses of silver was also a challenge.  But I persevered and and happy with the results!   It pays to be patient with creativity. ps. See this in my Etsy Shop!   https://www.etsy.com/listing/587427778/choker-necklace-set-beaded-necklace?ref=shop_home_active_1 When cleaning my work space I'm finding beads I've made but never put together.  One of this months goals is to actually put together unfinished parts into necklaces and earrings.   It is so easy to focus on parts instead of designing a piece, making what needs to be made and putting everything together.  Often I'll finish making beads, change my mind about what I want to do with them and put them in a container for future inspiration.  There isn't anything really wrong with that as long as there is space and patience!   This is one of the necklaces and matching earrings that I finished this week!  I made the petal from steel clay many months ago.  They are now polished and finished with Klear Cote to prevent rusting.  As I was looking through my stash these freshwater pearls called to me ...

Carnival Collection - Video 2 - Coming Oct 25

Image
Last week I shared my first attempt at a video with titles and music.  We agreed it was fun but not effective for getting viewers to notice the jewelry.  I tried again.  This time I changed the background to a much simpler white with glitter and faceted jewels for a mardi gras theme. I chose the mardi gras theme because of the colors - green for faith, gold for power and purple for justice.  The handcrafted pieces of jewelry have some shine and gold sparkle.  The pieces could be worn for a party, for day or evening wear or just for fun. I found some New Orleans music and paired it with my video, added titles and thought I'd share the retake with you!  The 'Carnival Collection' will be in my etsy shop October 25.  Don't forget to look for it and YES!  I'll remind you again.   www.lindabrittdesign.etsy.com As usual, I'd love feedback on the video.  Each time I do one, I'll get better and your comments will help me.

The Learning Curve

Image
Have you noticed that learning curves vary with content and with age?  I've spent hours learning to set up a scene to take a video and then get the lighting correct.  I've learned to use new software 'Wondershare Filmora' (which by the way is really good software for putting text and music to a video).  Since it is new to me, it has taken more hours.  And then when I got the video like I wanted it, I had to get it in a format to put in my blog (Filmora helped with that).  I had to put it on YouTube first.   Lots of learning with a big learning curve.  I think my age may have something to do with all that or it could be I'm just determined!  Why did I make the video?  Good Question!  My new jewelry collection is coming to www.lindabrittdesign.etsy.com on October 25.  I wanted to learn to make a video and this seemed like the perfect time.  A little teaser for everyone to get excited about the jewelry!  This first v...
